Laurie G. Baise
Co-Principal InvestigatorAssistant Professor - Tufts University
Research:
- Evolution of Seafloor Morphology and Geophysical Characterization
- Seismicity and Triggering Mechanisms
- Spatial Variability of Sediment Properties and Data Visualization (GIS)
Professor Baise's research focus is on engineering methods for handling and assessing uncertainty in the geologic/geotechnical environment, including the following topics: earthquake site response, regional earthquake waveform modelling, and geotechnical characterization. The research methods include parametric transfer functions, regional finite-difference modeling of earthquake waves, and geostatistical methods to assess spatial variation. She received the prestigious National Science Foundation CAREER award in 2006, and was awarded Tufts University's Undergraduate Initiative in Teaching Award in 2005.
